Working at The Farndon Unit you will have a crucial part to play in supporting the service to ensure positive outcomes for the people using our services.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will come from the NHS or private care with experience of managing a complex caseload and being responsible for various social care assessments.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to build positive and professional working relationships, whilst focusing on personalisation and recovery, that can support people to make positive, self-directed change, this can also include but not be limited to, family focused work to support and optimise involvement and collaborative solutions.

Your main role will be within the Acute wards, however as a senior, you will also be required to have oversight of the other service areas. As a senior, you must also be confident and able to support and provide guidance to your team members.

As a Senior Social Worker, you are an integral part of changing live for the better. In this role you will help some of the most vulnerable people gain a brighter future as you experience what delivering great healthcare should feel like. 

Your Responsibilities as a Senior Social Worker will include but not be limited to:

  • Educating hospital staff about relevant safeguarding matters.
  • Managing a small established team consisting of one qualified SW and one Social Work Assistant
  • Facilitating access to welfare rights, housing, advocacy services and associated support services
  • Participation in & Provision of 1:1 supervision.
  • Reporting to safeguarding agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Attending Safeguarding meetings with Local Authorities
  • Your main role will be within the Acute Service (Aster, Darcy and Ruby Acute Wards) however oversight of all areas including Low Secure is expected.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • A Social Work Degree  
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience within mental health, hospital discharge or Acute services is essential.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant MH legislation
  • Sound knowledge of the process of MP, MHRT, CPA and associated reports
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong assessment and care planning abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative MDT.
  • Dedication to upholding the highest ethical and professional standards.
  • Knowledge of MAPPA desirable (Training provided if necessary)
  • Excellent understanding of Safeguarding requirements and duty to refer to external agencies.
  • Driver's License (full UK)
  • Willingness to undertake Level 4 Safeguarding Train the Trainer qualification and deliver Level 3 Safeguarding training to new inductees where required.
