We have an exciting opportunity for a MinesStores Person to join our team at British Gypsum, based in East Leake. The role is based at Marblaegis Mine, which is an underground mine currently in the process of a significant increase in production.

To assist the Mine's production & engineering teams to deliver the agreed priorities and targets. Leading the stock management and continuous improvement cycle for all stock parts, assisting the team to deliver competitive advantage for British Gypsum through effective material management and management of internal stakeholder expectations across a variety of critical topics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Management of the Mine's stores, ensuring competitive advantage is gained, critical parts are available and stock discrepancies are minimized.
  • Provide procurement support for stock part / spot purchases in the scope of the stores operation
  • Project Management, leadership of stores improvement projects working towards world class standards. Participation in surrounding area improvement projects as required - Reduce stock losses, improved audit (WCM/5S) results, Improved stock management to help avoid interruption to production
  • Key contact for Finance & Shared service - Contribution to the monthly and annual spend allocation, ensuring supplier payments are completed on time and internal cost allocation is assigned correctly

What we are looking for in a MinesStores Person

  • Project Management, ability to lead and support small to medium sized improvement projects. Specifically, World Class Manufacturing and 5S
  • Experience of using SAP, and other procurement systems.
  • Understanding of COSHH to ensure compliance with safe systems of work to reduce the exposure to hazardous substances in the mine
  • Management of the main mine stores & all consumables on the production districts (picks, oils etc)
  • Strong attention to detail with great organisational skills, and preferably an engineering mindset
  • Ability to converse at all levels with confidence and conviction.
  • Experience of operating a forklift truck is essential, as the role will require loading & transporting of items from our newly created 'Goods In' facility on the mine surface
