This role is an opportunity to be part of our growing company within the oil and gas industry. Your role as Electronics Technician will be to ensure the effective production of Caliper and Pathfinder electronics assemblies. The role will be of paramount importance within the company to deploy a new generation of pigging tools. Reporting to the Electronics Manager, this role will be part of the electronics department and will require you to be able to work as part of a team as well as being able to work independently.

Background

Pipeline Innovations build and operate caliper tools, we then produce reports from geometry surveys conducted. These surveys are run worldwide within the oil and gas industry. We have many high-profile clients and a proven track record running these caliper tools. Our standards need to be of the highest level to ensure our continued success and growth as a small company.

Our two products are the mechanical caliper tool and the foam Pathfinder caliper. This role is for an assembly technician to program, test and build the electronic sub-assemblies into pressure vessel housings.

Main duties

To be responsible for and assist in coordinating, organising, and carrying out and improving the following:

•            This is a technical position with responsibility for production duties.

•            The role involves undertaking the production of caliper equipment associated with our products, typically involving assembly of precision electronics, batteries, and plastic parts into pressure vessels.

•            This role is a hands-on role and will involve active participation in electronics programming and testing, and the electro-mechanical build of caliper pressure vessel sub-assemblies.

•            Carry out electronics programming and testing: the electronics sub-assemblies are made up of circuit boards which need to be programmed and tested to ensure high reliability to minimise the risk of failure of the product.

•            Carry out assembly of pressure vessel sub-assemblies: The electronics are packaged with batteries and spacers into pressure vessels rated up to 400 bar to make up our datalogger tools. This process requires great attention to detail due to the fine tolerances involved.

•            Work to all Company QMS policies and procedures as per ISO 9001:2015.

•            Ensure that a safe working environment is maintained at all times through compliance with Health and safety at work regulations (HASAW 1974)

Essential attributes

•            Experience in electro-mechanical assembly in a workshop environment.

•            Experience in programming and testing of production electronics and recording test results.

•            Knowledge and experience in following and interpreting technical drawings and assembly instructions.

•            Good soldering skills

•            Knowledge of quality control processes and experience of following quality procedures.

•            Have an attention to detail during production tasks.

•            Have a conscientious attitude to performing tasks.

•            Experience with MS Word and Excel to produce reports.

•            Be highly motivated.

Preferred attributes

•            Experience of electronic equipment assembly and testing within the oil and gas industry.

•            Have knowledge and experience of Inspection, quality assurance and or functional testing of component parts, materials and assemblies.

•            High level of competence in IT skills.

•            Qualification in an Engineering / science-based field desirable.

•            Skilled in the use of workshop tools.

•            Skilled in the use of basic laboratory tools (Multimeter, oscilloscope, etc).

•            Be ESD aware when working with electronics.
