Job Role: Technical Buyer
Location: Stockport
Shift: Days Only
Salary: £40,000 - £41,000 per annum

Metalis is working in partnership with well established company specialising in fabrication, machining and quality of metal products. To support their purchasing department, we are looking to hire an experienced Technical Buyer on a permanent contract.

Job Duties:

  • To source components and RAW material for subcontract manufacturing business
  • Extract drawings, part reports, from engineering drawings and database information to compile technical RFQ for Tier 2 suppliers and OEM part manufacturers
  • Interrogate complex bills of material making judgements on purchase versus manufacture in conjunction with the manufacturing team
  • Knowledge of common Oil and Gas, Nuclear and Scientific standard materials is advantageous but not essential.
  • To operate in, facilitate, monitor and develop an efficient and effective Purchasing section, with a 50/50 split between deciphering requirements from complex bills of materials and sourcing activities whilst working closely with the sales team on competitive parts pricing.
  • Allocating appropriate part numbers and raising PO's from requisitions whilst considering savings prior to ordering via ERP system (EFACS).
  • To ensure there is a continuous supply of materials and services to enable all delivery objectives to be achieved in the most cost effective and timely manner
  • To maintain and encourage high morale and initiative through positive attitude and effective communication often with multiple bids and projects running simultaneously
  • Continually seek new suppliers to satisfy the increasing demand
  • Maintain EFACS supplier database
  • Monitor suppliers' performance to ensure that the approved suppliers achieve the goals set during the management review and produce a monthly report highlighting performance

Job Requirements:

  • To meet the cost strategy set by Commercial Manager to meet and exceed the needs of the business.
  • To meet the bid turnaround time set by the Commercial Manager for successful submission
  • To submit Technical Deviations and Quality Notifications to the quality department to meet the project deadline
  • IT Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internal purchasing systems.
  • Mechanical Engineering background within purchasing
  • Ability to read engineering and technical drawings

Salary & Shift:

  • 39 hour working week
  • Monday to Friday, days
  • £40,000 to £41,000 per annum
