A new instruction for an EU Procurement Materials Specialist with a key manufacturing client within the area specialising in fast moving consumer goods. The Materials Specialist is a new role within the business and is initially presented on a fixed term contract basis for 12 months, with the possibility of a further extension thereafter. The Position: The Materials Specialist will be responsible for strategic and tactical materials management functions for the corporation and act as liaison among all business units impacted by materials management, including Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Supply Panning, Global Manufacturing Services and the manufacturing plants, Contract Fillers and direct material suppliers. This is a non-management role, as there are no direct reports. Our offshore Energy projects client is now seeking a Senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer to join their global projects team based in London. Negotiable rate. The role Within the Materials, Welding and Coatings department, you will be responsible for providing support to projects and other departments for all questions pertaining to metallic materials (carbon steel, stainless steels, nickel base alloys) and corrosion (materials selection, CO2 corrosion, H2S corrosion, SCC). Produce the material specifications for pipes, forgings, and bends.Review and clarifies offers received from pipes, bends, and forgings suppliers.Responsible of the materials selection according to the corrosive environment and the project constraints.Perform CO2 corrosion calculation.Participate to meeting with Clients, Vendors and Suppliers, and interface with Client representatives as required for resolving any technical issues.Support quality and SCM departments for supplier's qualification.Participate to the R & D activities on materials and corrosion.Ensures effective communication is maintained with clients and other departments.
